Home Remedies to Swear By

When it comes to combating simple illnesses, I think going au naturale is still the best. Here are some of the home remedies I swear by.

How To Effectively Stop Vomiting at Home

Vomiting could be due to varying reasons like food poisoning, hangover or just early stages of pregnancy. It is quite worrisome as continuous vomiting for a long period of time may cause severe dehydration and weakness. Good thing is there is a remedy that we can use at home to ease a person’s suffering due to vomiting. Ginger has been used during ancient times to ease nausea and vomiting. They are the best anti-emetic one can find at home. The most effective way to use it is to boil ginger in water and drink it as a tea. You can also add honey to make the taste better. I also use tried using already-made ginger tea and still find it effective. If you are brave enough to stand its spice, you can also just chew a slice of ginger and it still works the same. It is still unclear why ginger can help ease vomiting but it is a remedy that I promise would deliver results.

 Onychomycosis Fix

Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the nail that causes the nail to become yellow, thick and causes the nail to separate from the skin. My big toenail was infected before and it was a horrible experience. I was shocked to see my big toe without any nail at all. I can’t wear open shoes since then. I tried to search for anything at home that I can use to fix it. I was out of Hydrogen Peroxide, and what’s left that has antimicrobial properties is my Listerine mouthwash. I just thought of trying it on my infection and when I did, I discovered that it helped in treating the fungal infection. I mixed 1 part Listerine mouthwash and 1 part apple cider vinegar to a basin of water. I soaked my feet for 30 minutes every day for three months and it really helped a lot. I refrained from wearing close and tight shoes while doing this. I also kept my toes dry all the time. I know that it worked because the nail on my big toe is growing back again. I’m glad that soon, my toenails would be back to normal.

 The Magic of Garlic

When you’re one of those persons who constantly sit, stand and carry heavy weights, you might have encountered getting hemorrhoids. They are very painful that my father can’t even walk after defecating. I’ll share one effective home relief for hemorrhoid pain and even other kinds of pain. Our secret weapon for pain is garlic. Many thought of garlic as a remedy for relieving toothache, but this can also relieve hemorrhoid pain. Garlic contains eugenol. Eugenol has properties similar to that of anesthesia. First, put 5 to 10 cloves of garlic in two cups of boiling water. Second, use it to do a Sitz bath. Put the boiled solution on a basin and sit on it for 15 minutes or until pain is relieved. Lastly, another option is to rinse your anal area into the water once it has cooled down to a temperature you can tolerate. You can also crush the boiled garlic and apply it directly to your external hemorrhoids. This is a relief for pain. A person with hemorrhoids should also watch their diets and eat high fiber foods for further relief.

Review: Queen's Lair Salon Hair Rebond

I went through a military training and had my hair cut very short last year. After eight months, it grew fast and reached beyond my shoulders (TIP: Washing your hair twice a day can really make it grow fast). It grew fast but it is stiff as tree branches. Even conditioners and argan oils can't do any miracle. I decided to try having a hair rebond but it costs around P3,000 to P10,000. I won't shell out that much money just for my hair! I searched through metrodeal for days and weeks. I can't decide which one to try. I am afraid that since I will be using a voucher, the service will be blah or worse. I experienced that before. I dunno what has gotten into me that I purchased and availed a hair rebond service that is only for 500 php. I know I am only getting what I paid for. My hair looked like a straight broom stick. I think it got chemically burned that's why it rubberized. Oh well, lesson learned. There are lots of known salons that offer vouchers and hair rebond for half the price. I originally wanted to try unica hija salon's volume rebond ( volume rebond gives you a straight hair but with oomph. It gives that nice shape and bounce. I would definitely try that someday, maybe next year.), but I can't find any reviews about it so I hesitated. I really need reviews first to consider a salon. I accidentally got into femalenetwork forum about hair rebond and they mentioned the friendly staff and good service of Queen's Lair Salon. I am actually hesitated as the salon's name sounds very new to me. In my mind, new salon means inexperienced staff. Yet reviews are so powerful to me and I actually believed the salon is good. So there, I purchased the voucher and contacted them to schedule my "paguunat ng buhok". Here are the terms of the voucher and it is a must to read them to prevent further disappointments.
The deal is really a money-saver. Just think of the additional services you can get such as the haircut, hotoil and pedicure. I chose to have my hair done at Metrowalk and had it scheduled on a holiday morning. Since I am availing the service through a voucher, I went there very early for 2 reasons; first, there might be a long line of people trying to avail the service and second, the staff can perform well in the morning since they are not yet exhausted. It is true that the staffs are very friendly. They even crack jokes at you, listen to your stories and they are always smiling. You wouldn't feel a hint of discrimination even if you are only using a voucher. First, they checked my voucher, then they did a strand test. They suggested that it will be better if I avail their brazilian blowout first to condition my hair then after a month I can go back to have a hair rebond. They said the strand test shows that there's a big chance my hair will get rubberized. I thought about for a while and bravely continued with the hair rebond. I just don't like brazilian blowout. They politely complied and suggested to add a treatment to diminish any further damage. It is already 10:30am. They started putting the rebonding cream. After an hour they washed my hair, blow-dried it and then they started with the ironing. I had my pedicure done while the guy is ironing my hair. By the way, the one doing it is their new employee. I find it uncomfortable at first, but then I learned he is from Index salon before. Index Salon at Starmall is the best hair rebond I had so far. The new guy is very kind. He even ate his lunch late because he finished ironing my hair first. He even ate his lunch fast and that is only for 15 minutes. When he came back, he put the neutralizer on my hair. After an hour they washed my hair again. Then, they put some conditioner which afterwards, I discovered to be the keratin pro treatment. That one already costs an additional 800 php. I know, I know, they put it in just like a conditioner, then washed it away and poof! there goes my 800 pesos. After that, they blow-dried my hair and told me it is finished. I gave the tips to the new guy and his assistant and off I went home.

Here is the result after the first wash:

I am actually impressed with the result of hair rebond. It did not rubberized, it is soft, and not super straight. It still has a body, bounce and curve. It is just perfect.

Queen's Lair Salon delivers good result but I still got a couple of issues. First, when they applied the keratin treatment, they should have at least let it stayed in my hair for a while to let my hair absorb it's nutrients. They just put it in and washed it right away. I just feel I have thrown away my 800 php. In some salons, they even put a heating cap and let it stayed for an hour. They must be in a hurry to finish the process.  Second, it took me 6 hours staying in the salon  not because of the process itself but because I waited for too long since there are a lot of customers they would need to assist. Well, that one is forgivable, I just have to eat lunch at 4pm. Third, I accidentally stripped the nail polish on one of my nails, the new guy saw it but didn't even offered to reapply the nail polish. I just let it go. And lastly, they didn'f offer the haircut. That is included in the package. I would want to have it done but after telling me it is finished, they went off. Since, everybody in there is busy, I can't ask someone to cut my hair. There I go, I just paid for the keratin treatment and went home. I can't stand another hour in there anyway as I am very hungry.

They deliver good results but not a really good experience. Well, I still consider myself lucky. If you will ask me if I would still come back, then my answer is Maybe. Well, no matter how bad my experience is, the result of heir hair rebond is still good.

SIX UNKNOWN CLASH OF CLANS TECHNIQUES, GUIDES, TIPS, AND HACKS

These are my self learned rules that I am not sure if everybody know. Well, everyone has their own opinions based on their experiences, and this one's based on mine and found very effective in playing clash of clans. Here are the top six unique techniques I swear by in winning the game;

1. Greater in Numbers is Better than Greater in Types of Troops

Limit the "types" of troops you are using to 4 or 5 and then make many of them. Troops work best when they are greater in numbers. For example, 30 hogs then 17 wizards in a 220 capacity army camp can likely gain more stars than a combination of more troops. It proves the saying there is POWER in NUMBERS. But combine intelligently, don't be ridiculous in filling your  army camp with all healers and wallbreakers in it...lol

2. Upgrade Inner Walls First

Most of the time, attackers already had wallbreakers with them so that means most of the time the first line of walls would only get crushed by the wallbreakers. The inner layers of walls will truly serve their purpose if they are upgraded because that's the only time giants, barbarians and other troops would try to defeat the walls to get to their next target. That will definitely buy your defenses' time to kill the attacker's troops before getting into your storages or townhall.

3. Holes in the Walls are Fantastic

Open holes in your walls are the best for funneling and great when you doesn't have enough walls. I see some level 7 attacked by level 8 or 9 but can't get their loots because of those open holes with traps in them.

4. Xbow Positioning

How should you position your xbow? You should not put all of your xbow in air and land defense mode. It is weakest when put in air and land defense. You cannot put both in land defense mode only as you are at risk from air attackers. For me, the best position to do this is to have one in land mode and the other one in air & land mode. Well, that's for me, since I got two xbows. If ever you only got one, just put it in land mode. Why? Because that is when it is at its advantage, for long range attack, you got air defenses anyway.

5. Clan War Participation

Clan war ranking and participation were determined by one's trophy count. There are times wherein your clan lacks 2 or 3 members to be able to accommodate everyone in the clan wars. I was town hall 7 on my 2nd account so I thought that I am automatically included in the war because most of the other members were only town hall 6. I was wrong; I was not included because their trophies were higher than mine. LOL

6. Look for Bank Accounts

Remember last Halloween wherein you get tombstones and when you "clean" them up, you will get 75,000 worth of elixirs? How about last Christmas, wherein you will get Christmas trees worth 75,000 gold with gifts under them that are worth 5,000 elixirs each. These are treasures from what I so-called Bank Accounts. Don't clean them up yet if you will not use them right away. These loots can't get stolen from you if not yet "cleaned". So the technique is to reserve them for future need.

THL T100S review (after 4 months of usage)

I believe the most reliable review one can give is after one has used the product for more than a month. Due to high raves about THL T100s before, I was swayed to buy the product. I was quiet hesitant because my boyfriend owns an Ainol tablet (which was distributed by Novo7tech) and after 4 months it malfunctioned and easily gets hot and easily gets battery drained. Knowing that my boyfriend is so meticulous when it comes to his gadgets made me think that the product itself is not well-built. That made me think that Novo7tech is selling cheap but low class products. Well, I still pursued buying the THL T100s  because of the cheap price for an octacore plus the 13 MP for both front and rear camera. Let me give my own review about THL T100s.

Let me provide you first with the complete specifications;

  • Display: 5 inch full HD display using OGS (One Glass Solution)
  • Processor: 1.7 GHz MT6592 True Octa-Core with Mali-450 GPU
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Android: 4.2
  • Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n
  • Cellular: 2G – GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and 3G – WCDMA 850/2100 MHz
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth, GPS, NFC
  • Cameras: 13 Megapixel Rear Camera with flash + 13 Megapixel Front-Facing Camera
  • Battery Size: 2300mAh
  • Storage: 32GB and a microSD slot with support for another 64GB
  • Dimensions: 144 x 70 x 9mm (L x W x D)
  • Weight: 147g

I will not go in detail about the features as there are lots of reviews online that will supply you that. I'll just give you the "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" of this phone.

THUMBS UP:

  • 32 GB of Storage: One thing I liked about this is the storage, Not all Octacore phones has 32GB of Storage. You might find some but those phones won't let you put an expansion memory card.
  • Display: I appreciate the display specially when I play games, It was crisp and clear, it almost made my gaming experience like heaven
  • Battery: The battery is 2300Mah. It might sound small but believe me, it will surprise you as it lasts me more than a day, and that includes playing clash of clans, browsing the internet and listening to music. You also gotta take in mind that this runs an octacore, so having this phone to last more than a day is already superb.
  • Camera: The camera is good but not excellent. It produces great pictures when I use apps like DSLR. The pictures looks crisp and very vivid but when I zoom them in, it looks blah. Let me provide you a sample:

This looks fantastic right? But look at the next picture when I zoomed it in

It looks bloody and messy.

Anyway, I put the camera feature on thumbs up since it still look gorgeous when not zoomed..Heehee

THUMBS DOWN:

  • Not durable: Yeah. It is first on my list of thumbs down since this part really made up the majority of my disappointment in buying this phone. When I bought this I noticed on the bottom part that there is like a hardened glue which made me think that maybe the rough part on the sides of the phone were just glued. In the 2nd month, the charger malfunctioned then in the 3rd month the charging port became loose. In the fourth month, the charging port no longer functions so I have to take it to their technician.
  • It is only Octacore by name but not by its Function: There were times while using this phone that it will hang even if I am only browsing or only playing clash of clans. By the way, I don't have high-end games installed on my phone.

THE VERDICT:
I had headaches with this phone. I am not used to high end phones. The previous phone I owned was Starmobile. My Starmobile phone doesn't have those high end features but that lasts for 3 years without any problem! I am really disappointed. That made me think that all phones Novo7Tech was selling were low-class since this is the second product we got from them that easily gets broken. Well, this is one MAJOR lesson learned. Anyway, who would need a phone with super mega features if that phone is not working?  :))
